SPVH Absolute Alpha Fund

Aggressive Alpha on Both Sides of the Market — Conviction Longs, Structural Shorts, Absolute Returns.

A long-short Category III AIF engineered for high returns regardless of market direction — long the structural winners of India's next decade, short the businesses the market is yet to recognise as structurally impaired — through the proprietary EDGE framework.

Investment Philosophy

High Return — Regardless of Direction.

“

True absolute return does not mean low return. It means high return, regardless of market direction. We generate alpha by being right on both sides — long the structural winners of India's next decade, and short the businesses the market is yet to recognise as structurally impaired.

Proprietary Framework

The EDGE Framework.

Four pillars for true long-short alpha — an evidence-driven long book, a disruption-aware short book, dynamic exposure management, and event-driven pair trades.

E
Evidence-Driven Long Book20–25 long positions in structurally advantaged, quality businesses — each backed by 90-day diligence. The long book is the primary alpha engine (PRISM-compatible). No momentum chasing; only evidence-based conviction.
D
Disruption-Aware Short Book8–12 short positions on structurally impaired businesses — losing share to new entrants, overleveraged at earnings peak, or cyclicals topping out. Individual-stock shorts via F&O — no index shorts.
G
Gross & Net Exposure ManagementDynamic net exposure (40–80%). Bull markets: net-long skew 70–80%. Bear/volatile: reduce to 40–50% net. Max gross 160%. Leverage only via derivatives, never borrowed equity.
E
Event-Driven Pair TradesSector pair trades — long the high-quality player, short the structurally weak peer. Neutralises sector risk and extracts company-quality alpha. 4–6 active pair trades at any time.
Strategy in Action

Long & Short Thesis by Market Condition.

Bull Market Strategy

Net-long 70–80%. Long book fully deployed; short book reduced to structural/secular shorts only. Pair trades remain active to capture the quality spread.

Bear / Volatile Market Strategy

Net-long reduced to 40–50%. Short book expanded to 12+ positions including cyclical and event-driven shorts. Target: positive absolute return when the Nifty drops 10%+.

Long Book Themes (2025–27)

Defence/aerospace electronics, capital-goods EPC, private-sector capex, asset-light financial intermediaries, and India-facing technology platform businesses.

Short Book Themes (2025–27)

Legacy media/print, commoditised IT services without AI differentiation, overleveraged real-estate developers, legacy PSUs at earnings peak, and durables losing to D2C disruption.

The Absolute Alpha Edge

What Sets This Fund Apart.

Alpha From Both Sides

Not merely a hedged fund — an active alpha fund that generates returns independently from a conviction long book and a thematic short book.

Thematic Short Architecture

The EDGE framework brings structure to the short book — shorting structurally disrupted themes rather than ad-hoc sector-neutral names, with a clear LP narrative.

Risk-Managed Pair Trades

Event-driven pair trades neutralise unintended market and sector risk while isolating company-quality alpha — targeting a high Sharpe with controlled drawdowns.

Higher Return Ambition

A true conviction long-short targeting 18–24% absolute return — meaningfully above conservative hedged peers — bespoke for the UHNI risk-return appetite.
